JOB TITLE: Packaging Engineer/Sourcing Specialist

\n

DEPARTMENT: Operations

\n

SCHEDULE: Monday- Friday Hybrid (3 days in the office)

\n

REPORT TO: COO

\n

\n

JOB SUMMARY: Support new product development and sourcing initiatives within the personal care category, including conditions, soaps, and aerosol-based products. This role plays a key part in managing packaging specifications, coordinating supplier interactions, and ensuring successful new product introductions (NPI) for our customers.

\n

\n

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

\n

\n
• Review, interpret, and validate technical specifications for packaging components, including bottles, closures, labels, and aerosol systems
\n
• Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, operations, quality, and sales teams to support new product development and launches
\n
• Manage packaging aspects of new product introductions (NPI), ensuring timelines, specifications, and cost targets are met
\n
• Source and engage suppliers for packaging components; request and evaluate quotes, samples, and lead times
\n
• Develop and maintain cost estimates and pricing comparisons for packaging materials
\n
• Ensure packaging meets customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and manufacturing capabilities
\n
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative materials without compromising quality or performance
\n
• Support troubleshooting of packaging-related issues during development and production
\n
• Maintain accurate documentation of specifications, supplier communications, and project updates
\n
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

SKILLS, ABILITIES and EDUCATION:

\n

\n
• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
\n
• 2–5+ years of experience in packaging, sourcing, or a related role within manufacturing (personal care, cosmetics, or CPG preferred).
\n
• Experience with aerosol packaging systems strongly preferred.
\n
• Ability to read and evaluate technical drawings and packaging specifications.
\n
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
\n
• Excellent communication skills for supplier and cross-functional collaboration.
\n
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and cost analysis.
\n

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Primarily sedentary work; ability to sit for extended periods with periodic standing/walking.
\n
• Frequent use of computer, keyboard, and phone; repetitive hand/wrist motions.
\n
• Ability to read, review, and interpret printed and digital documents/specifications.
\n
• Ability to communicate clearly in person, by phone, and via email/virtual meetings.
\n
• Occasional lifting/moving of samples/materials up to 25 lbs.
